Welcome to Downs Park School

Part of the CDP Federation of special schools with Patcham House Special School and Cedar Centre, our school is a Community Special School maintained by Brighton and Hove Council. We have 95 pupils on roll, aged 4 to 16 years.

The school is staffed to provide an education for pupils with a variety of learning difficulties who are in possession of a Statement of Special Educational Needs. The school has expertise in a range of special needs which may be associated with learning difficulties, the foremost of these being in pupils with Autistic Spectrum Conditions and Attachment Disorder.
Downs Park has ten classes, three of which are specifically for pupils with Autism. In addition to this, the school manages the staffing and resources of the Special Facility at West Blatchington Primary School.

Downs Park works closely with all schools in Portslade through the Portslade Cluster. Teachers meet to discuss pertinent issues and cross school pupil events are also undertaken.

We are situated in Portslade Old Village, and occupy a site on the edge of the South Downs with views over the sea and Shoreham Harbour. DPS is part of the   Portslade Partnership of Schools
